Circuit Description

Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) contains data storage area known as Keep Alive Memory (KAM). KAM is used by the IPC to save pertinent data when ignition switch is in OFF position. KAM data is lost if battery power is removed from the IPC. KAM is an integral part of IPC processor and cannot be serviced separately.

DTC B1652 indicates that KAM in IPC has been reset. This is normal whenever power or ground (battery) is disconnected and reconnected. If this occurs, IPC KAM will reset to initial values.

Under all fault conditions, DTC B1652 will clear automatically when IPC no longer detects KAM failure. This DTC also requires an ignition cycle in order to change from current to history. History DTCs will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles. Current or history DTCs can be cleared using scan tool, or IPC clearing DTCs feature.
