Circuit Description

The season odometer, which keeps track of vehicle mileage, is stored in Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) EEPROM. Cluster is capable of displaying up to 621,500 miles (999999 km), depending on units selected. Security measures are incorporated into cluster to prevent tampering. DTC B1556 will set if odometer portion of IPC EEPROM has an unrecoverable error and is no longer accurate. DTC B1556 will store in IPC memory and display ERROR in place of mileage on season odometer when DTC is current.

Under all fault conditions, DTC B1556 will clear automatically when IPC no longer detects conditions which caused DTC to set. Current and history DTCs will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles, or can be cleared using scan tool, or IPC clearing DTCs feature.
