IPC Diagnostic System Check

NOTE: Before performing any IPC testing or diagnostic procedures, ensure that all aftermarket electrical equipment is disconnected from vehicle. If any circuits have been spliced into for installation of aftermarket equipment, ensure circuit is operating properly.
NOTE: For component locations, see COMPONENT LOCATIONS. For wiring and connector terminal identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Wait one minute. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator is still illuminated, go to TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator is not illuminated, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, request IPC DTC display. If scan tool receives data, go to next step. If scan tool does not receive data, locate and repair problem in Platform Zone Module (PZM) system. See BODY CONTROL MODULE article.
  3. If no DTCs exist, go to next step. If any DTC exists, go to appropriate DTC test.
  4. Clear DTCs. See RETRIEVING & CLEARING DTCS  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC - SYSTEM. Test drive vehicle. Perform IPC diagnostic system check again.
