DTC B2780: Pass-Key(R) II Wrong Resistor Value Before Good: Description

When ignition key is inserted in ignition, resistance of key pellet is measured. Resistance is compared with resistance value stored in IPC memory. DTC B2780 will set when IPC determines that one of 15 valid key pellets is detected, but does not match one stored in IPC memory. When DTC B2780 is set, IPC will display STARTING DISABLED, DUE TO THEFT SYSTEM, REMOVE IGNITION KEY message on driver's message center and prevent vehicle from starting. IPC will count down a 3-minute delay sequence.
