DTC B2710 Or B2711: Pass-Key(R) II Open/Short Key Pellet: Description

When ignition key is inserted in ignition, resistance of key pellet is measured. Resistance is compared with resistance value stored in IPC memory. DTC B2710 will set when an open or zero resistance value is measured from key pellet prior to obtaining a valid resistance reading. DTC B2711 will set when an open or zero resistance value is measured from key pellet following a valid resistance reading.

When DTC B2710 is set as current, IPC will display STARTING DISABLED, REMOVE IGNITION KEY message on driver's message center and prevent vehicle from starting. When DTC B2711 is set as current, IPC will display THEFT SYSTEM PROBLEM, CAR MAY NOT RESTART message on driver's message center and allow vehicle to continue to run.
