DTC B2419: Twilight Sentinel Photo Sensor Malfunction: Testing

  1. If IPC diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If IPC diagnostic system check was not performed, go to procedures in IPC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  2. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, check IPC data list value for TWILIGHT PHOTO counts. Cover ambient light sensor with a dark cloth. If scan tool displays more than 250 counts, go to next step. If scan tool does not display more than 250 counts, go to step 9).
  3. Disconnect ambient light sensor connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between ambient light sensor harness connector terminals "A" (White wire) and "B" (Black wire). Using scan tool, check IPC data list value for TWILIGHT PHOTO counts. If scan tool displays more than 5 counts, go to step 12). If scan tool does not display more than 5 counts, go to next step.
  4. Using DVOM, check voltage between ambient light sensor harness connector terminal "A" (White wire) and ground. If reading is 4.5-5.0 volts, go to step 7). If reading is not 4.5-5.0 volts, go to next step.
  5. Disconnect IPC Blue 32-pin connector C3. Using DVOM, check resistance of White wire between IPC harness connector C3, terminal C12 and ambient light sensor harness connector terminal "A". If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 13). If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  6. Repair open in White wire between ambient light sensor and IPC connector C3. Perform IPC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  7. Disconnect IPC Blue 32-pin connector C3. Using DVOM, check resistance of Black wire between IPC harness connector C3, terminal D14 and ambient light sensor harness connector terminal "B". If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 13). If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  8. Repair open in Black wire between ambient light sensor and IPC connector C3. Perform IPC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  9. Disconnect ambient light sensor connector. Using scan tool, check IPC data list value for TWILIGHT PHOTO counts. If scan tool displays more than 5 counts, go to step 12). If scan tool does not display more than 5 counts, go to next step.
  10. Disconnect IPC Blue 32-pin connector C3. Using DVOM, check resistance between IPC harness connector C3, terminal C12 (White wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, go to step 13).
  11. Repair short to ground in White wire between ambient light sensor and IPC connector C3. Perform IPC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  12. Replace ambient light sensor. Perform IPC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  13. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform IPC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
