Trunk Ajar Message Inoperative

  1. Check operation of trunk compartment lid pull-down motor. If trunk compartment lid pull-down motor operates properly, go to next step. If trunk compartment lid pull-down motor does not operate properly, diagnose and repair problem in pull-down motor system. See POWER TRUNK & FUEL DOOR RELEASE article.
  2. Disconnect trunk compartment lid pull-down motor connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between trunk compartment lid pull-down motor harness connector terminal "E" (Red/Black wire) and ground. If TRUNK AJAR message is displayed on driver's message center, go to step 5). If TRUNK AJAR message is not displayed on driver's message center, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect Platform Zone Module (PZM) Brown 24-pin connector C1. Connect a test light between PZM harness connector C1, terminal B10 (Red/Black wire) and battery voltage. If test light illuminates, go to step 6). If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  4. Repair open in Black wire between trunk compartment lid pull-down motor and ground. Recheck system operation.
  5. Replace trunk compartment lid pull-down motor. See procedures in POWER TRUNK & FUEL DOOR RELEASE article. Recheck system operation.
  6. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform IPC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTING.
