Dimming Inoperative/Malfunctioning: Description

IPC monitors setting of headlight switch dimming potentiometer; sends a class 2 serial data line VF dimming level message to radio controller, phone and climate control panel; and supplies a group of pulse width modulated dimming signals to power dimming circuits.

If IPC has lost communication with Platform Zone Module (PZM), IPC will activate dimming circuits if ambient light sensor is sensing a dark condition. If a short exists in a dimming circuit, all lights on that circuit will turn off.
