Oil Pressure Warning Light Inoperative Oil Pressure Gauge Always Indicates Low
- Disconnect oil pressure indicator light switch. Indicator light switch is located on front of engine with Blue/Yellow and Blue/Green wires. Use fused jumper and connect oil pressure indicator light switch connector C1 terminal No. 1 (Blue/Green wire) to ground. If low oil pressure warning buzzer comes on, go to next step. If low oil pressure warning buzzer does not come on, go to step 3).
- Replace engine oil pressure switch. Recheck system operation.
- Remove instrument cluster from I/P. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect gauge cluster connector. Use DVOM and measure resistance between oil pressure gauge switch connector C1 terminal No. 1 and gauge cluster connector terminal No. 15 (Blue/Green wire). See Figure . If reading is less than 5 ohms, go to step 5). If reading is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Check for open or high resistance in Blue/Green wire between oil pressure switch and gauge cluster. Repair circuit if necessary. Go to step 6).
- Replace gauge cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGES under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Reconnect all disconnected components and/or connectors. Check that engine oil warning buzzer operates properly. If buzzer is faulty, locate and repair problem circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
