Brake Pad Wear Indicator Inoperative
- Perform INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING. Go to next step.
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheels and inspect brake pads for wear, damage to sensors or damaged wiring and/or connectors. If problem is found, repair and recheck operation. If no problem is found, go to next step.
- Disconnect left and right side brake pad wear sensors. Use DVOM and measure resistance between ground and Gray/Red wire between left and right side brake pad wear sensors. If any resistance is indicated, go to step 5). If no resistance is indicated, go to next step.
- Disconnect connector C200A. C200A is located in wiring harness in driver's side kick panel. Use DVOM and measure resistance between ground and connector C200A terminal No. 31 (Yellow/Red wire). If any resistance is indicated, go to step 7). If no resistance is indicated, go to step 6).
- Locate and repair short to ground in Gray/Red wire between left and right side brake pad wear sensors. Recheck system operation.
- Remove the instrument cluster. See procedures in INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove gauge cluster connector. Use DVOM and measure resistance between ground and gauge cluster connector terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Red wire). See Figure . If any resistance is indicated, go to step 9). If no resistance is indicated, go to step 8).
- Locate and repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire between connector C200A and gauge cluster. Recheck system operation.
- Replace gauge cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGES under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
- Repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire between left side brake pad wear sensor and connector C200A. Recheck system operation.
