Code C1743: Speed Signal Fault
- Perform CVRSS system check. See CVRSS SYSTEM CHECK . After performing CVRSS system check, go to next step.
- If Code P1642 is set, go to Code P1642 for diagnosis. See TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If Code P1642 is not set, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 32-pin CVRSS control module connector C3. Disconnect 23-pin splice C205 connector located behind right side of instrument panel, near kick panel. Check continuity between vehicle speed input circuit (Dark Green/White wire) of splice C205 connector (PCM side) and CVRSS control module harness connector C3. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, go to step 6).
- Check for intermittent open in vehicle speed input circuit (Dark Green/White wire). After repairs, perform CVRSS SYSTEM CHECK . If circuit is okay, go to next step.
- Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Turn ignition on. Clear codes. Drive vehicle faster than 20 MPH for more than 10 seconds. Display codes. If Code C1743 is set, go to step 7). If Code C1743 is not set, perform CVRSS SYSTEM CHECK .
- Repair open in vehicle speed input circuit (Dark Green/White wire). After repairs, perform CVRSS SYSTEM CHECK .
- Turn ignition off. Replace CVRSS control module. Reinstall/reconnect all components/connectors. Install scan tool. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Calibrate NEW CVRSS control module. See CALIBRATING CVRSS CONTROL MODULE under ADJUSTMENTS. Perform CVRSS SYSTEM CHECK .
