Code S061, Right Front Rotary Sensor Position Signal Fault: Description

The RSS module monitors the position sensor data for a sensor out-of-range condition. The signal is out of range if it is under voltage (0.35 volt) or over voltage (4.75 volts), or if an invalid data condition is signaled. If the signal is out of range for more than one second, the error is set.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. To diagnose for intermittents, clear codes. Enter output cycling. Manipulate affected wiring. Shake and/or tap the sensor. Recheck for codes. See NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS  under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS.
  2. The code may set because Code S065 is set. If Code S065 is set, diagnose and repair fault causing Code S065 first.
CAUTION: DO NOT  backprobe connector terminals at position sensors, dampers, ELC or SSS connectors.
NOTE: After repairs, clear codes and verify system operation.
