Code S071, Right Front Rotary Sensor Accelerometer Signal Fault: Description

The RSS module monitors the accelerometer data for a sensor out-of-range condition. If the signal is under voltage (0.35 volt) or over voltage (4.75 volts) for more than one second at vehicle speeds greater than the full firm speed setting, the error is set.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. To diagnose this condition, clear codes. Enter output cycling. Manipulate affected wiring. Tap the sensor. Recheck for codes. See NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS  under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS.
  2. The code may set because Code S065 is set. If Code S065 is set, first diagnose and repair fault causing Code S065.
CAUTION: DO NOT  backprobe connector terminals at position sensors, dampers, ELC or SSS connectors.
NOTE: After repairs, clear codes and verify system operation.
