Code S044, Lift/Dive Signal Fault: Description

For 1-31 seconds after engine cranking, the RSS module monitors the lift/dive signal. If no signal is detected, this error is activated. A new ignition cycle is required to clear this error. Lift signal is calculated in PCM and is based on throttle position, vehicle speed and transmission gear. The dive signal, also calculated in the PCM, is based on vehicle speed rate of change.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.

  2. An intermittent short to ground or open on circuit No. 1490 may cause a random firm/soft ride condition.
