Code S043, Speed Signal Fault: Description

With every regularly scheduled diagnostic communication, the IPC passes its calculated road speed to the RSS module. The RSS module compares this road speed with its own calculated road speed. If the IPC road speed is greater than 20 MPH while the RSS road speed is less than 3 MPH for 10 seconds, this error is activated.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. See NOTES ON INTERMITTENTS  under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS.
  2. On some meters, readings may switch between zero and battery voltage instead of averaging.
  3. An intermittent short to ground, open or short to voltage could cause an intermittent speed sensitive steering assist condition and/or an intermittent firm/soft mode condition.
