Key In Ignition Input Test

  1. Disconnect electrical connector at chime module (located behind left side of instrument panel). Put ignition key in ignition and leave driver's door open. Using a voltmeter, check for battery voltage between Orange wire and Light/Green wire harness connector and ground.
  2. If battery voltage is not present, check ignition key warning switch and driver's door jamb switch wiring for open circuit. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS  section.
  3. Remove key from ignition and leave driver's door open. Repeat step 1) voltage test. Voltage reading should be zero. If voltage is present, check Light/Green wires for short to ground. Check ignition key warning switch. Warning switch should be open when key is removed.
  4. Repeat step 3) with key in ignition and all doors closed. Voltage reading should be zero. If voltage is present, check door jam switch wiring for short to ground. Check door jamb switch. Switch should be open with door closed.
