Fuel Gauge Flashing "E" At All Times

  1. Check for fuel in tank. Enter diagnostics F.8.0 BCM data display and read parameter P.2.9 instantaneous fuel level sensor. The fuel data center is powered by the computerized engine control module. If 21 gallons, go to step 2). If 0 gallons, go to step 3).
  2. With ignition on, probe BCM connector at pin 6 (circuit 39). BCM is located under right side of instrument panel, above relay panel. If 0 volts, repair open or short in circuit. If 12 volts, probe fuel sender connector at pin D (circuit 39). If 0 volts, repair open circuit. If 12 volts, check connector for loose pins or bad connection. If okay, replace BCM.
  3. With ignition on, probe fuel sender connector at pin D (circuit 39). If 0 volts, repair open circuit. If 12 volts, probe fuel sender connector at pin B (circuit 30). If 0-0.5 volts, fuel tank sending unit.
  4. If 0.5-12 volts, probe BCM connector at pin 18 (circuit 30). If 0 volts, find open or short between fuel tank and BCM. If 0.5-12 volts, check connector for loose pins or bad connection. If okay, replace BCM.
