Rear Suspension CROSSMEMBER: Removal
NOTE:
The crossmember can be removed without removing or disconnecting the following components: Spring, struts, control arms, knuckles, hub and bearing assemblies, rotors, stabilizer bar assembly, vibration dampers or ELC compressor. If the spring is to be removed, remove the spring before loosening any of the crossmember mounting bolts.
- Partially raise vehicle on a hoist. Remove wheel and tire assemblies. Remove and support calipers aside. Remove all suspension components as required. Remove ELC height sensor connector and ELC compressor connector from the body wiring harness.
- Remove ELC compressor air intake filter from body. Remove intermediate parking brake cable from the equalizer and position cable clear of crossmember assembly. Remove 3 brake crossover pipe retainer screws. Remove right rear brake hose retainer bolt and crossover pipe hose retainer bolt.
- Support rear crossmember assembly with jack stands. Remove crossmember forward arm bolts, upper mounting bolts and lower insulators. With crossmember supported only by the jack stands, slowly raise the vehicle away from the crossmember assembly. Ensure brake lines, hoses and calipers are not damaged when crossmember is lowered.
