Removal ("E" & "K" Bodies)
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel and tire assemblies. Disconnect ELC height sensor link, if disassembling left control arm. Remove stabilizer bar mounting bolt at strut, if equipped. Reinstall 2 lug nuts to hold rotor on hub and bearing assembly.
- Suspend caliper out of the way. Loosen knuckle pivot bolt on outboard end of the control arm. DO NOT remove the pivot bolt. Remove strut rod cap, mounting nut, retainer and upper insulator. Compress strut by hand and remove lower insulator.
- Remove inner control arm nuts. Support knuckle and control arm. Remove inner control arm nuts. Support knuckle and remove inner control arm bolts. Remove control arm, knuckle, strut, hub and bearing, and rotor from vehicle as an assembly. Raise vehicle and place a jack stand under the outboard end of the spring.CAUTION: Jack stand must be strong enough to support weight of vehicle. Securely position jack stand under spring.
- Lower vehicle so that vehicle weight loads the spring downward on the jack stand. Remove 3 spring retainer bolts, retainer and lower insulator from retainer closest to the supported end of the spring. Slowly raise vehicle, allowing spring to deflect downward until spring no longer exerts force on the jack stand.
- Remove spring retainer bolts, retainer and lower insulator from retainer on the opposite side of the vehicle. Remove spring from rear suspension crossmember assembly through disassembled side of the suspension. Remove upper spring insulators.
