Bushing Replacement
NOTE:
Rear lower control arm bushings are different sizes. These bushings are not interchangeable and require different combinations of removers/installers to replace.
- With control arm upside down on work bench, position Spacer (J-22222-5 or J-33793-5 ), depending on size of bushing. Position Receiver Tube (J-25317-2 ) on outer side of control arm. Ensure tube is installed so that it does not contact bushing flange. Coat threaded portion of Bolt (J-21474-19 ) with high pressure lubricant. See Fig 1 .
- Install bolt through receiver, cap and bushing. Install remover on bolt at inner side of control arm. Position Remover (J-22222-2 or J-28685-2 ) so that small diameter end contacts bushing. Position bearing on bolt and install Nut (J-21474-18 ). Bearing must be installed between nut and remover. Draw bushing out of control arm by tightening nut.
- Position new bushing on control arm. Install Spacer (J-22222-5 or J-33793-5 ) on bushing. Position Receiver Tube (J-25317-2 ) and Cap (J-29376-7 ) on inside of control arm. Center receiver tube over hole. Install bolt through receiver, cap and bushing.
- Position Installer (J-28685-2 ) on bolt at outer side of control arm. Installer should be positioned with large end contacting bushing flange. Place bearing on bolt and install Nut (J-21474-18 ). Bearing must be positioned between nut and installer. Draw bushing into control arm by tightening nut. Tighten nut until bushing flange seats firmly against control arm.
