SUBJECT: INNER TIE ROD TO GEAR BOLT LOCK PLATE REPLACEMENT

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985 CIMARRON

FIGURE 1:

The inner tie rod bolt lock plate on 1985 Cimarron steering gears has been changed from a tabtype lock plate to a push-on retainer type lock plate (Figure 1).
The new push-on lock plate may become damaged during removal and may not retain properly if reused. For this reason, the push-on type lock plate must be replaced with a new lock plate, GMWDD P/N 7836778, any time it is removed.

This new push-on type lock plate will be included in all future packages of GMWDD tie rods and center take-off short gears.
