Compressor/Pump: Description and Operation

The air compressor assembly, Fig. 1, is a positive displacement single piston pump powered by a 12 volt DC permanent magnet motor. The compressor head casting contains the piston intake and exhaust valves plus a solenoid operated exhaust valve which releases air from the system when energized by the electronic height sensor. The compressor is located in the engine compartment or the trunk.
