Radio/Stereo: Service and Repair

CAVALIER, CIMARRON, SUNBIRD & 2000
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Loosen six instrument panel trimplate to instrument panel attaching screws and remove trimplate. Determine whether right side of radio is retained with nut or rubber stud.
3. On vehicles equipped with radio side retainer nut:
a. Without A/C, remove right lower hush panel then loosen side retainer nut. Disconnect wire and antenna connections and remove radio from instrument panel.
b. With A/C, remove right lower hush panel, A/C duct and A/C control head, then loosen side retainer nut. Disconnect wiring and antenna connections and remove radio from instrument panel.
4. On vehicles equipped with radio side retainer rubber stud, remove two radio bracket to instrument panel attaching screws, then pull radio forward and disconnect wiring and antenna connections. Remove radio from instrument panel.
5. Reverse procedures to install.
