Instrument Panel Bezel Assembly
Disconnect negative battery cable, remove instrument panel top cover and steering column lower cover as previously outlined. Remove radio, then remove screw retaining shift indicator pointer to steering column and remove pointer. Remove air conditioner hose from behind cluster and disconnect wiring harness from top and bottom of bezel. Remove wiring harness from back of cluster. Disconnect speedometer cable from speedometer head by depressing spring tab on speedometer. Disconnect the following electrical and vacuum connections, depending on car equipment: Vacuum connector, electrical connectors and light on Climate Control Panel, wiring connector and two lights at headlight switch, Twilight Sentinel connector, Guide Matic connector, rear window defogger, convertible top or sunroof switch connectors, wiring connector and light to Cruise Control, two ground wires on left side of bezel, instrument panel cluster connector and any miscellaneous connectors. Now remove the following screws: Four screws securing steering column upper cover to bezel assembly and remove upper cover, two screws securing bezel assembly to instrument panel center support, one screw securing bezel assembly to instrument panel frame above left air conditioner duct, one screw securing bezel assembly to instrument panel frame under headlight switch, then using care to avoid damage, remove bezel assembly by lifting upward and working right side free from instrument panel.
