Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the connector at the K20 Engine Control Module.
  2. Verify the scan tool Service Engine Soon Indicator Control parameter is greater than 10 V
    • If the parameter is less than 10 V 
    1. Test Service Engine Soon Indicator Request Signal for a short to ground.
      • If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found
    2. Replace the A11 Radio.
    • Go to next step: If the parameter is greater than 10 V 
  3. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between signal terminal 1 and ground.
  4. Verify the scan tool Service Engine Soon Indicator Control parameter is less than 1 V.
    • If the parameter is 1 V or greater 
    1. Test Service Engine Soon Indicator Request Signal for a short to voltage.
      • If an short to voltage is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If a short to voltage is not found
    2. Test Service Engine Soon Indicator Request Signal for an open/high resistance.
      • If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If a open/high resistance is not found
    3. Replace the A11 Radio.
    • Go to next step: If the parameter is less than 1 V 
  5. Replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
