Camshaft Cover Inspection Procedure

- Inspect the camshaft housing for the dents or damage to the exterior. A dented or damaged camshaft cover may:
- Leak engine oil
- Affect crankcase ventilation
- Interfere with the camshafts
- Interfere with the ignition coil sealing
- Allow water or condensation to enter the engine
Inspect the exterior of the camshaft housing (1) for the following conditions:
- Damage to the camshaft cover bolt holes.
- Damage to the hose connections.
- Damage to the primary (2) or secondary cap (3).
Inspect the interior of the camshaft housing for the following conditions:
- Inspect the camshaft housing for cracks, casting imperfections or damage.
- Inspect the camshaft housing sealing surface (5) for cracks or damage.
- Inspect the locating pins (1, 3) for damage.
- Inspect the primary baffle (2) for any damage.
- Inspect the separator baffle (4) for any damage.
- Inspect all bores for grooves, cracks, scratches and any other damage.
