Removal Procedure
- Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.
- Apply and release the brake pedal several times until the brake pedal becomes firm to deplete the power brake booster vacuum reserve.
- Without disconnecting the hoses, remove and position aside the radiator surge tank. Radiator Surge Tank Replacement
- Power Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor Electrical Connector - Disconnect
Power Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor (1) - Remove
- Disconnect the brake fluid level indicator switch electrical connector.
Brake Master Cylinder Nut (1) - Remove and DISCARD [ 2x ]
- Without disconnecting the brake pipes, carefully remove and position aside the master cylinder.
- NOTE:
Do NOT disconnect the heater coolant pump hoses.
{ If equipped } Heater Coolant Pump Stud (1) - Remove - Heater Coolant Pump Replacement
- Position the heater coolant pump and hoses aside.
Fuel Injector Wiring Harness Retainer (1) - Release
- NOTE:
Do NOT loosen the power brake booster bolts completely.
Power Brake Booster Bolt (1) - Loosen [ 2x ]
- Brake Pedal Position Sensor - Remove - Brake Pedal Position Sensor Replacement
- With the aid of an assistant, hold the power brake booster away from the dash panel.
Brake Pedal Retainer (1) - Release
- Brake Pedal (2) - Release
- Completely loosen the 2 power brake booster bolts.
Power Brake Booster (1) - Remove
Power Brake Booster Seal (1) - Inspect for damage
- Replace the power brake booster seal if damaged.
- NOTE:
Insert a long, thin tool through the power brake booster pass-through from the engine compartment to remove the brake pedal retainer.
Brake Pedal Retainer (1) - Remove and DISCARD
NOTE:
Pull the brake pedal rearward to release.
