Removal Procedure

  1. Air Cleaner Bracket - Remove - Air Cleaner Bracket Replacement

    Input Speed Sensor Electrical Connector (2) - Disconnect

  3. Electrical Connector (4) @ Engine Coolant Fan - Disconnect
  4. Wiring Harness Retainer (3) @ Transmission Case - Remove
  5. Wiring Harness Retainer (5) @ Transmission Control Module Bracket - Remove
  6. Wiring Harness Retainer (1) @ Control Valve Body Cover Stud - Remove [2x]
  7. Wiring Harness (6) - Position aside

    Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Bolt (2) - Remove

  9. Range Selector Lever Cable (1) @ Range Selector Lever Cable Lever (4) - Remove

  13. Generator and Starter Cable Bracket Nut (4) - Remove
  14. Wiring Harness Retainer (6) @ Transmission Stud - Remove
  15. Battery Positive Cable (5) & Generator and Starter Cable Bracket (1, 3) - Position aside
  16. Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Bracket - Remove - Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Bracket Replacement

    Battery Negative Cable Ground Bolt (3) - Remove

    Transmission Stud (4) - Remove [2x]

  26. Transmission Bolt (3) - Remove
  27. Engine Control Module and Engine Wiring Harness Bracket Bolt (2) - Remove
  28. Engine Control Module and Engine Wiring Harness Bracket (1) - Position aside
  29. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  30. Transmission Fluid - Drain - Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill 
  31. Exhaust Front Pipe - Remove - Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LGX AWD)
  32. Propeller Shaft - Remove - Propeller Shaft Replacement
  33. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle - Remove - Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement (LGX)
  34. Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe - Remove - Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement (9T50/9T60)

    Plug and/or cap the pipe and the transmission to prevent contamination.

  35. Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe - Remove - Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement (9T50/9T60)

    Plug and/or cap the pipe and the transmission to prevent contamination.

  36. Transmission Control Module Bracket - Remove - Transmission Control Module Bracket Replacement 
  37. Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft - Right Side @ Transfer Case - Disconnect - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side (AWD)

    Secure the right drive shaft (2) to the hoist (1), using a lashing strap (3).

  39. Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft - Left Side @ Transmission - Disconnect - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side

    Secure the left drive shaft (1) to the hoist (3), using a lashing strap (2).

  41. Three-Way Catalytic Converter - Remove [2x] - Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Bank 1) , or Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement (Bank 2)

    Engine Control Module and Engine Wiring Harness Bracket Bolt (3) - Remove

  43. Engine Control Module and Engine Wiring Harness Bracket (2) & Wiring Harness (1) - Position aside
  44. Power Transfer Unit Case - Remove - Power Transfer Unit Case Replacement

    Transmission Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

    Transmission Bolt (1) - Remove

  47. Starter - Remove - Starter Replacement (3.6L LGX)

    Torque Converter @ Flex Plate - Loosen

    1. Turn the engine at the crankshaft balancer (3) clockwise (arrow) with a suitable tool (2), until a torque converter bolt (1) shows up.
    2. Remove and DISCARD the first torque converter bolt.
    3. Turn the engine at the crankshaft balancer clockwise 60 degrees.
    4. Remove and DISCARD the next torque converter bolt.
    5. Repeat the previous 2 steps until the sixth torque converter bolt is removed.
  49. Lower the vehicle.
  50. Apply tension to the hooks of the EN-51007  fixture.

    Remove and DISCARD the 4 transmission mount to transmission bolts (1).

  52. Lower the engine/transmission unit about 5.5 cm (2.16 in), using the EN-51007  fixture.
  53. Raise the vehicle.
  54. Support the transmission with a suitable jack.

    Transmission Bolt (1) - Remove

    NOTE:

    This is the last transmission bolt.

    Transmission Bolt (1) - Remove

    57. NOTE:

    A second technician is required.

  57. Separate the transmission from the engine.
  58. Lower the transmission jack far enough to remove the transmission.
