Removal Procedure

  1. Battery Tray - Remove - Battery Tray Replacement
  2. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube - Remove - Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube Replacement

    Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove

  4. Battery Positive Cable Clip (2) @ Engine Control Module and Engine Wiring Harness Bracket (3) - Unclip
  5. Battery Positive Cable (4) & Generator and Starter Cable Bracket (5) - Position aside

    Electrical Connector (3) @ Automatic Transmission Auxiliary Fluid Accumulator - Disconnect

  7. Engine Control Module and Engine Wiring Harness Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove
  8. Wiring Harness (2) & Engine Control Module and Engine Wiring Harness Bracket (4) - Position aside

    Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Bolt (2) - Remove

  10. Range Selector Lever Cable (1) @ Range Selector Lever Cable Lever (4) - Remove
  11. Range Selector Lever Cable (1) @ Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Bracket (3) - Remove
  12. Range Selector Lever Cable (1) - Position aside
  13. Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Bracket - Remove - Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Bracket Replacement

    Input Speed Sensor Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect

  15. Electrical Connector (3) @ Engine Coolant Fan - Disconnect
  16. Wiring Harness Retainer (2) @ Transmission Case - Remove
  17. Wiring Harness Retainer (4) @ Transmission Control Module Bracket - Remove
  18. Wiring Harness Retainer (6) @ Control Valve Body Cover Stud - Remove
  19. Wiring Harness (5) - Position aside

    Electrical Connector (1) @ Transmission Control Module - Disconnect

  21. Electrical Connector (2) @ Transmission - Disconnect
  22. Wiring Harness Retainer (3) @ Transmission Control Module Bracket - Remove
  23. Wiring Harness (4) - Position aside

    Battery Negative Cable Ground Bolt (2) - Remove

  25. Battery Negative Cable (1) - Position aside

    Transmission Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  27. Transmission Bolt (3) - Remove
  28. Generator and Starter Cable Bracket (2) - Position aside

    Transmission Bolt (1) - Remove

  30. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  31. Transmission Fluid - Drain - Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill 
  32. Exhaust Front Pipe - Remove - Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LTG FWD)
  33. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle - Remove - Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (LTG)
  34. Transmission Support - Remove - Transmission Support Replacement 
  35. Transmission Mount Strut Bracket - Remove - Transmission Mount Strut Bracket Replacement 
  36. Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe - Remove - Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement (9T50/9T60)

    Plug and/or cap the pipe and the transmission to prevent contamination.

  37. Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe - Remove - Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement (9T50/9T60)

    Plug and/or cap the pipe and the transmission to prevent contamination.

  38. Oil Pump Flow Control Valve Heat Shield - Remove - Oil Pump Flow Control Valve Heat Shield Replacement
  39. Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft - Right Side @ Intermediate Shaft - Disconnect - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side (FWD)

    Secure the right drive shaft (2) to the hoist (1), using a lashing strap (3).

  41. Front Wheel Drive Intermediate Shaft - Remove - Front Wheel Drive Intermediate Shaft Replacement
  42. Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft - Left Side @ Transmission - Disconnect - Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side

    Secure the left drive shaft (1) to the hoist (3), using a lashing strap (2).

    Engine Control Module and Engine Wiring Harness Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove

  45. Wiring Harness (3) & Engine Control Module and Engine Wiring Harness Bracket (2) - Position aside

    Transmission Bolt (1) - Remove

  48. Starter - Remove - Starter Replacement (2.0L LTG)

    Torque Converter @ Flex Plate - Loosen

    1. Turn the engine at the crankshaft balancer (2) clockwise (arrow) with a suitable tool (3), until a torque converter bolt (1) shows up.
    2. Remove and DISCARD the first torque converter bolt.
    3. Turn the engine at the crankshaft balancer clockwise 120 degrees.
    4. Remove and DISCARD the second torque converter bolt.
    5. Repeat the previous 2 steps for the third torque converter bolt.
  50. Lower the vehicle.
  51. Engine Support Fixture - Install - Engine Support Fixture
  52. Apply tension to the hooks of the EN-51007  fixture.

    Remove and DISCARD the 4 transmission mount to transmission bolts (1).

  54. Lower the engine/transmission unit about 5.5 cm (2.16 in), using the EN-51007  fixture.
  55. Raise the vehicle.
  56. Support the transmission with a suitable jack.

    Transmission Bolt (1) - Remove

    NOTE:

    This is the last transmission bolt.

    Transmission Bolt (1) - Remove

    59. NOTE:

    A second technician is required.

  59. Separate the transmission from the engine.
  60. Lower the transmission jack far enough to remove the transmission.
