Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2020 Buick Regal and 2019 Buick Regal. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the appropriate electrical connector: Q17 Fuel Injector
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for 10.8 to 11.4 V between the test points: Control circuit terminal 2 & Ground
- If less than 10.8 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: X3 @ K20 Engine Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Control circuit terminal 2 & @ Component harness & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Control circuit terminal 2 @ Component harness &
- {Q17A Fuel Injector 1} Terminal 69 @ Control module harness
- {Q17B Fuel Injector 2} Terminal 68 @ Control module harness
- {Q17C Fuel Injector 3} Terminal 72 @ Control module harness
- {Q17D Fuel Injector 4} Terminal 70 @ Control module harness
- {Q17E Fuel Injector 5} Terminal 67 @ Control module harness
- {Q17F Fuel Injector 6} Terminal 71 @ Control module harness
- If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 ohms - Replace the component: K20 Engine Control Module
- If greater than 11.4 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: X3 @ K20 Engine Control Module
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Test for less than 1 V between the test points: Control circuit terminal 2 @ Component harness & Ground
- If 1 V or greater - Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V - Replace the component: K20 Engine Control Module
- Go to next step: If between 10.8 and 11.4 V
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off
- Install the special tool: EL-44603 Injector Test Lamp @ Q17 Fuel Injector - Component harness
- Engine cranking.
- Verify the test lamp flashes
- If the test lamp does not flash
- Ignition/Vehicle - Off & Remove - Test lamp
- Disconnect the electrical connector: X3 @ K20 Engine Control Module
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Control circuit terminal 1 @ Component harness & Ground
- If less than infinite resistance - Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If infinite resistance
- Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Control circuit terminal 1 @ Component harness &
