WARNING:

After installation of the steering wheel airbag module to the steering wheel, slightly pull the module outward. If there is no give on the airbag module then it is secured correctly. If the airbag module is not fully attached personal injury could result.

Procedure

  1. Turn the steering wheel enough to gain access to the access hole located at the bottom of the steering wheel.
  2. Insert a pick tool or equivalent into thin layer covering the access opening to release lower spring retainer while pushing up and pulling inward at the same time. This will allow you to disengage the top two stationary spring retainers from the DAB clasp.
  3. Release the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  5. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping (Europe) Inflatable Restraint Module Handling and Scrapping (Except Europe)
NOTE:

The top of the steering column upper trim cover flexes to aid in removal and installation.
