Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:

Perform the Circuit/System Verification before proceeding with the Circuit/System Testing.

  1. Test for a blockage or restrictions in the EVAP system components listed below and repair as necessary.
    • Evaporative Emission Vent System Hoses
    • Evaporative Emission Canister
    • Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve
    • Evaporative Emission Vent Filter
  2. Reconnect all previously disconnected EVAP hardware.
    NOTE:

Refer to the GE 41413-A  evaporative emissions system tester (EEST) operation manual for detailed instructions in Evaporative Emission System Diagnosis .

  3. Remove the fuel fill cap and connect the CH 41415-30  fuel tank cap adapter to the fuel tank filler neck. Connect the GE 41413-A  evaporative emissions system tester (EEST) to the CH 41415-30  fuel tank cap adapter.
  4. Ignition ON, seal the EVAP system with a scan tool.
  5. Turn the nitrogen/smoke valve on the GE 41413-A  evaporative emissions system tester (EEST) to nitrogen.
    NOTE:

DO NOT exceed the specified value in this step. Exceeding the specified value may produce incorrect test results.

  6. Use the remote switch to activate the GE 41413-A  evaporative emissions system tester (EEST) and pressurize the fuel tank to 5.0 in H20.
  7. Verify the scan tool Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor parameter is 0 in H20 when commanding the EVAP Vent Solenoid Valve to OFF.
    • If not 0 in H20

Test for a blockage or a restriction in the EVAP vent hose or inlet. If the inlet or hose test normal, replace the Q13 Evaporative Emission Vent Solenoid Valve.

    • If 0 in H20
  8. Operate the vehicle within the conditions for running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the freeze frame/failure records data.
    • If the DTC sets

      Refer to step 1 above.

    • If the DTC does not set
  9. All OK.
