Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement (GNE)

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
1 Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Inner Adjust Bolt
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

NOTE:

Hold the rear axle upper control inner adjust bolt while tightening the rear axle upper control arm inner adjust nut.


Tighten 
150 N.m (111 lb ft)
2 Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Outer Bolt
WARNING:

This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fasteners could cause damage to the vehicle, component, or bodily injury.


Procedure 
Replace with a NEW bolt.

Tighten

  1. First Pass: 150 N.m (111 lb ft)
  2. Final Pass: plus 60 degrees
3 Rear Axle Upper Control Arm

Procedure

  1. Use a proper jack stand, support the lower control arm and the rear wheel bracket.
  2. Remove cable harness clips from control arm.
  3. Verify the rear wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement .
