Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, fully insert and remove the key in the ignition lock cylinder several times. Verify the scan tool Key In Cylinder Switch parameter changes from Active to Inactive.
    • If the parameter is always Inactive, test the S39 ignition switch signal circuit terminal 4 and the B+ circuit terminal 2 for an open/high resistance or a short to ground. If all circuits test normal, replace the S39 ignition switch.
    • If the parameter is always Active, test the S39 ignition switch signal circuit terminal 4 for a short to voltage. If all circuits test normal, replace the S39 ignition switch.
  2. If all circuits test normal, replace the K9 BCM.
