Drive Sprocket, Driven Sprocket, and Drive Link and Assemble

  1. Inspect the driven sprocket (415) for chipped teeth, worn splines, or a rough bearing.

  3. Remove the following parts from the turbine shaft (410):
    • The turbine shaft snap ring (411)
    • The drive sprocket (407)
    • The drive sprocket oil seal ring (409)

  5. Inspect the drive sprocket (407) for chipped teeth, worn splines, or a rough bearing.

  7. Install the drive sprocket (407) onto the turbine shaft (410), then install the turbine shaft snap ring (411)

  9. Lubricate the drive sprocket oil seal ring (409) with transmission fluid.
  10. Install the drive sprocket oil seal ring (409) onto the J 39064-3  seal protector.
  11. Place the J 39064-3  seal protectoronto the drive sprocket (407). Using the J 39064-1  seal pusher, quickly push down and install the drive sprocket oil seal ring (409).

  13. Remove the J 39064-1  seal pusher. Place the J 39064-2  seal sizerover the drive sprocket oil seal ring. Leave the J 39064-2  seal sizerin place until ready to install the turbine shaft into the drive sprocket support.

  15. Remove the J 39064-2  seal sizerfrom the drive sprocket oil seal ring.
  16. NOTE:

    The drive chain must be oriented in the same direction it was in when removed.

  17. Attach the drive chain to the drive and driven sprockets.
  18. Install the drive sprocket and turbine shaft into the drive sprocket support. Line up the driven sprocket splines with the input shaft and evenly tap the drive and driven sprockets into place until seated.

    NOTE:

    If the clearance is less than 12.7 mm (0.5 in), replace the drive chain.

  20. Measure the drive chain to case rib clearance. The clearance should be no less than 12.7 mm (0.5 in).
