Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement for the 3.8L engine or Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement for the 5.3L engine.

  3. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the wiring harness clip or strap.

  5. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable retainer.

  7. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the automatic transaxle range selector lever.
  8. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the automatic transaxle range selector cable bracket by squeezing tabs on cable.

  10. If equipped with a floor console, remove the front floor console. Refer to FRONT FLOOR CONSOLE REPLACEMENT .
  11. Pull the carpet back to expose the automatic transaxle range selector cable. Refer to FRONT FLOOR PANEL CARPET REPLACEMENT .
  12. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable retainer from the console shift control.

  14. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the console shift control.
  15. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the console shift control bracket.

  17. If equipped with a steering column shift control, remove the left knee bolster. Refer to DRIVER KNEE BOLSTER REPLACEMENT .
  18. Remove the automatic transmission range selector cable from the shift control lever.

  20. Install a piece of mechanics wire to the end of the automatic transmission range selector cable.
  21. Remove the automatic transmission range selector cable through the hole in the cowl.
