Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine sight shield, if required. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement .
  2. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer (3).
  3. Disconnect the ignition coil main electrical connector (4).
  4. Reposition the engine harness, as necessary.

  6. Remove the spark plug wires (724) from the ignition coils.
    1. Twist each plug wire 1/2 turn.
    2. Pull only on the boot in order to remove the wire from the ignition coil.
  7. Remove the ignition coil bracket bolts (720).
  8. Remove the ignition coil and bracket assembly (719).

  10. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) clean air tube from the valve rocker arm cover.

  12. Remove the valve rocker arm cover bolts and cover.

  14. Remove and discard the old the gasket (504) from the valve rocker arm cover.
  15. Remove the valve rocker arm cover bolt grommets, if cut or damaged.
  16. NOTE: Do not remove the oil fill tube from the rocker cover unless service is required. If the oil fill tube has been removed, install a NEW tube during assembly.
  17. Remove the oil fill cap from the oil fill tube, if necessary.
  18. Remove the oil fill tube, if necessary.
  19. Discard the oil fill tube, if necessary.
