Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the DIC.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm between the DIC ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, verify that all of the scan tool DIC Switch parameters are Inactive or Off.
    • If any are not the specified value, test the signal circuit listed below for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, replace the IPC.
      • DIC Fuel Switch Signal Terminal 9
      • DIC Select Switch Signal Terminal 8
      • DIC Set/Reset Switch Signal Terminal 7
      • DIC Odometer Switch Signal Terminal 5
      • DIC Gage Switch Signal Terminal 6
      • DIC Switch Signal Terminal 9 (Base DIC)
  4. Ignition ON, install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuits listed below and the ground circuit terminal 4. Verify all of the scan tool DIC switch parameters are Active or On.
    • DIC Fuel Switch Signal Terminal 9
    • DIC Select Switch Signal Terminal 8
    • DIC Set/Reset Switch Signal Terminal 7
    • DIC Odometer Switch Signal Terminal 5
    • DIC Gage Switch Signal Terminal 6
    • DIC Switch Signal Terminal 9 (Base DIC)
    • If any are not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the IPC.
  5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the DIC switch.
