Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate ignition coil.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, repair the open, or high resistance in the ground circuit.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, repair the open, or high resistance in the ground circuit.
- Ignition ON, load test for B+ between the ignition voltage circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the ignition voltage circuit for a short to ground, or an open/high resistance. Replace the fuse if necessary.
- Connect a DMM, set on the DC Hz scale, between the IC circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- Engine cranking, or idling, test for 3-20 Hz between the IC circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If not within the specified range, test the IC circuit for a short to ground, short to voltage, or an open/high resistance. If the circuit/connection tests normal, replace the ECM.
- If all circuits/connections test normal, replace the ignition coil.
