Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement .
  4. Remove the left engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .
  6. Position jack under rear of frame.

  8. Remove the bolts which secure the rear frame to the body.
  9. Lower the frame to gain access to the crankshaft position sensor lower heat shield.

  11. Remove the crankshaft position sensor lower heat shield bolts (1, 2) and position shield out of the way.
  12. Remove the knock sensor (KS) electrical connector.

  14. Remove the KS bolt.
  15. Remove the KS.
