Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the left drive axle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.
    2. IMPORTANT: Be careful not to damage the transmission case cover when removing the seal.

  2. Remove the drive axle seal (1). Pry out the seal from the transmission.
  3. Inspect the drive axle seal mating surface on the drive axle housing for corrosion, grooves or nicks.
  4. Clean the drive axle seal mating surface on the drive axle housing with crocus cloth.
