Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6, 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, and 2006 Buick Terraza. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

NOTE: Maximum gasket performance is achieved when using new fasteners, which contain a thread-locking patch. If the fasteners are not replaced, a thread locking chemical must be applied to the fastener threads. Failure to replace the fasteners or apply a thread-locking chemical MAY reduce gasket sealing capability.

Position the oil cooler inlet hose clamp at the oil cooler.
Position the oil cooler inlet hose clamp at the oil cooler.

Install the NEW oil cooler gasket onto the oil cooler.
Install the oil cooler and gasket to the oil filter adapter.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Install the oil cooler connector.
Tighten: Tighten the to bolts and stud to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
Install the oil cooler inlet hose to the engine fitting.
Position the oil cooler inlet hose clamp at the engine.

Position the oil cooler outlet hose clamp at the oil cooler fitting.
Position the oil cooler outlet hose clamp at the oil cooler.

Install the oil filter.
Tighten: Tighten the filter to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
Remove the drain pan from under the oil filter.
Install the radiator air baffle. Refer to RADIATOR AIR BAFFLE ASSEMBLIES AND DEFLECTORS .
Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (Static Fill) .
Check and fill the crankcase, if necessary.
