Removal Procedure

  1. Raise Vehicle. Drain cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM (STATIC FILL) .
  2. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  3. Lower Vehicle
  4. Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement - Lower .
  5. Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT - RIGHT (3.9L) .
  6. Remove the right spark plugs. Refer to SPARK PLUG REPLACEMENT .

  7. Remove and discard cylinder head bolts.
  8. Remove the cylinder head.

  9. Remove and discard the cylinder head gasket.
  10. Remove the cylinder head locator dowel pins, if necessary.
