Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6, 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, and 2006 Buick Terraza. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (Static Fill) or Draining and Filling Cooling System (Vac-N-Fill) in Engine Cooling.

  2. Disconnect both of the heater hose clamps at the heater core using the J 38185  or SA9111E.
  3. Remove the heater hoses from the heater core.
    4. IMPORTANT: Cap off the heater core inlet and outlet pipes to prevent coolant spilling inside of the vehicle.
  4. Cap off the heater core pipes.
  5. Remove the heater core cover. Refer to Heater Core Cover Replacement .

  6. Remove the heater core pipe clamp screw.
  7. Remove the heater core.
