Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6, 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, and 2006 Buick Terraza. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the rubber plug from the brake caliper.

    IMPORTANT: Install NEW copper brake hose gaskets (3).
  2. Assemble the brake hose bolt (1) and the NEW copper brake hose gaskets (3) to the brake hose (2).
    3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the brake hose bolt (1) to the brake caliper.

    Tighten:  Tighten the brake hose bolt at rear brake caliper to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).

    4. NOTE: Make sure the brake hose is not twisted or kinked after installation. Damage to the hose could result.
    IMPORTANT: Use the stripe on the brake hose in order to align the brake hose with the notch in the brake hose bracket.
  4. Install the brake hose (2) to the brake hose bracket (4).
  5. Install the brake hose retainer clip (6) to the brake hose (2).
  6. Remove the rubber cap or plug from the exposed brake pipe fitting end.
  7. Connect brake pipe fitting to the brake hose; use a backup wrench on the hose fitting. Do not bend the bracket or pipe.

    Tighten:  Tighten the fitting to 21 N.m (15 lb ft).

  8. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual)  or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) .
  9. Install tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
