Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6, 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, and 2006 Buick Terraza. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the wheel speed sensor connector bracket to the knuckle.
    2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  2. Install the wheel speed sensor connector bracket bolt and nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the wheel speed sensor bracket nut to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

  3. Install the knuckle to the vehicle.

  4. Connect the lower ball joint to the knuckle.

    Tighten:  Tighten the ball joint nut to 35 N.m (26 lb ft) plus 130 degrees.

  5. Connect the upper control arm to the knuckle. Refer to Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement .
  6. Connect the shock absorber to the lower control arm. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement (Front Wheel Drive)  or Shock Absorber Replacement (All Wheel Drive) .
  7. Connect the height sensor link to the lower control arm as necessary.
  8. Install the backing plate and the wheel bearing. Refer to Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement - Rear (Independent Rear Suspension)  or Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement - Rear (Without Independent Rear Suspension) .
  9. Connect the drive axle to the wheel bearing/hub. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Rear .

  10. Install the stabilizer shaft link to the lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
  11. Install the tie rod to the knuckle. Refer to Tie Rod Replacement (Front Wheel Drive)  or Tie Rod Replacement (All Wheel Drive) .
  12. Install the brake rotor.
  13. Install the brake caliper bracket. Refer to Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement - Rear .
  14. Install the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement - Rear .
  15. Install the rear wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  16. Lower the vehicle.
