Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6, 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, and 2006 Buick Terraza. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install the spring jounce bumper to the spring.
  2. Index and install the spring insulator to the spring (2).
  3. Index and install the spring insulator with the spring and the jounce bumper to the lower control arm (1).
    4. NOTE: Refer to Avoid Chipping or Scratching the Coating Notice .

  4. Use the utility stand in order to raise the lower control arm.

  5. Install the lower ball joint to the knuckle.
    6. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  6. Install the lower ball joint nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the ball joint nut to 35 N.m (26 lb ft) plus 130 degrees.

  7. Connect the shock absorber to the lower control arm. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement (Front Wheel Drive)  or Shock Absorber Replacement (All Wheel Drive) .
  8. Connect the height sensor link to the lower control arm.

  9. Connect the tie rod to the knuckle. Refer to Tie Rod Replacement (Front Wheel Drive)  or Tie Rod Replacement (All Wheel Drive) .
  10. Install the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement - Rear .
  11. Install the rear wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  12. Lower the vehicle.
