Installation Procedure

- Apply sealant at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joints (1).
- Install a new gasket to the valve rocker arm cover. Ensure that the gasket is properly seated in the groove of the valve rocker arm cover.
- Install the right valve rocker arm cover.
- Install the valve rocker arm cover bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Install the vacuum hose to the grommet in the right valve rocker arm cover.
- Install the ignition coil bracket studs.
- Install the ignition coil bracket with coils. Refer to Ignition Coil(s) Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.5L.
- Install the EVAP purge valve.
- Connect the vacuum hoses to the EVAP purge valve.
- Install the right spark plug wires. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement in Engine Controls - 3.5L.
- Install the generator bracket. Refer to GENERATOR BRACKET REPLACEMENT (RPO LX9) in Engine Electrical.
- Install the generator. Refer to GENERATOR REPLACEMENT (LX9) in Engine Electrical.
- Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE in Engine Electrical.
IMPORTANT:
Apply sealant GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148) or equivalent, at the cylinder head to lower intake manifold joint.
NOTE:

IMPORTANT:
Use an alternating criss-cross pattern when tightening the valve rocker cover bolts. Failure to do so may result in oil leakage from the valve cover due to improper seating of the gasket.
