Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6, 2006 Chevrolet Uplander, and 2006 Buick Terraza. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Apply a thin coat of rubber lubricant GM P/N 1051717 (Canadian P/N 5728223), to the inside surface of the lower insulator and to the top surface of the upper insulator.

  2. Install the upper (1) and lower insulators (2) to the rear of the frame as a set.
  3. Raise the rear of the frame.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the frame straps (5) and bolts (3).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the rear frame bolts (4).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 240 N.m (177 lb ft).

  6. Raise the vehicle and secure.
  7. Remove the utility stand.
  8. Install the intermediate shaft to the steering gear stub shaft. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
