Liftgate Replacement

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice . Fastener Tightening Specifications: Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications . Preliminary Procedures Remove the rear wiper arm. Refer to Wiper Arm Replacement - Rear . Remove the rear washer nozzle. Refer to Washer Nozzle Replacement - Rear . Remove the center high mounted stop lamp. Refer to High Mounted Stop Lamp Replacement . Remove the liftgate pull strap. Refer to Pullstrap Replacement - Liftgate . Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Liftgate . Remove the liftgate wiring harness. Refer to Wiring Harness Replacement - Liftgate . Remove the rear liftgate speakers. Refer to Speaker Replacement - Rear . Remove the rear wiper motor. Refer to Wiper Motor Replacement - Rear . Place protective coverings over adjacent body panels. With a grease pencil, mark the location of the liftgate hinge to the liftgate. Disengage the assist rod upper mounting clips from the liftgate. Refer to Strut Replacement - Liftgate .
1	Bolt, Liftgate Hinges (Qty: 4) Tighten: 25 N.m (18 lb ft)
2	Gate Assembly, Lift Tip: With the aid of an assistant, remove the liftgate and place on a clean, dry surface. Transfer parts as necessary.

Preliminary Procedures

Remove the rear wiper arm. Refer to Wiper Arm Replacement - Rear .
Remove the rear washer nozzle. Refer to Washer Nozzle Replacement - Rear .
Remove the center high mounted stop lamp. Refer to High Mounted Stop Lamp Replacement .
Remove the liftgate pull strap. Refer to Pullstrap Replacement - Liftgate .
Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Liftgate .
Remove the liftgate wiring harness. Refer to Wiring Harness Replacement - Liftgate .
Remove the rear liftgate speakers. Refer to Speaker Replacement - Rear .
Remove the rear wiper motor. Refer to Wiper Motor Replacement - Rear .
Place protective coverings over adjacent body panels.
With a grease pencil, mark the location of the liftgate hinge to the liftgate.
Disengage the assist rod upper mounting clips from the liftgate. Refer to Strut Replacement - Liftgate .

Bolt, Liftgate Hinges (Qty: 4)

Tighten: 25 N.m (18 lb ft)

Gate Assembly, Lift
Tip:

With the aid of an assistant, remove the liftgate and place on a clean, dry surface.
Transfer parts as necessary.
